Profile
In January 2012 the outstanding gelding Sultan, who had been ridden by Bruce Menzies representing Great Britain, became part of the Saudi Equestrian team with a view to inclusion in the London Olympics. He very quickly proved himself for his new stable by winning the Charles Stanley British Masters SC13* at Wettenhall at the beginning of July. It was his first time riding the horse, but Al Sharbatly completed the complicated course flawlessly, and was full of praise for Sultan’s superb jumping abilities. Coach Stanny Van Paesschen commented, ‘Sultan is an experienced horse on great form, and has the potential to produce wonders at the London Olympic Games with Abdullah.’
Sultan is a big horse with a great deal of scope, careful over his fences and sensitive to handle. In the six months he has been with the Saudi team he has come on extremely well and looks certain to be in peak form for the Olympics.
