Delphi – the Saudi Equestrian star of the CSI-W 5* Helsinki

[AFG_gallery id='14']

Following on from the success of the CSI-W 5* Oslo Horse Show, Kamal Bahamdan got off to a flying start at the CSI-W 5* Helsinki International Horse Show – the second leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup™ Jumping Western European League.

Kamal teamed up with international jumping sensation, Delphi, on the second day of the competition, and the pair duly entertained the crowds in the 1.60m UB Grand Prix class, eventually finishing in 19th place.  Kamal and Vonka A then competed in the afternoon’s 1.50m Porsche International Classics, finishing in 40th place.

Kamal and Vonka A picked up proceedings on the final day of the competition, competing in the 1.45m International Power & Speed. Following a blisteringly fast round, the pair finished in 14th place with an impressive time of 28.52.

However, it was Delphi who once again wowed the fans in Helsinki with a brilliant first round in the competition’s concluding class – the 1.60m Rolex FEI World Cup™. The pair jumped magnificently throughout, only to knock down one fence, accruing four penalty points and eventually finishing in 20th position.  This result was a culmination of a string of positive results for Kamal and the bay mare over the course of the weekend.

Saudi Equestrian Team trainer, Stanny van Paesschen, commented: “I am very pleased with Kamal and Delphi’s 20th place result in the Rolex FEI World Cup™ class. This performance demonstrates their ability to work well as a partnership. They were very unlucky to one down in the first round, denying them a place in the jump-off.”
